HAMILTON, Ont. - Talks are to continue today in an effort to avert a possible strike or lockout of transit workers in Hamilton.

City officials and negotiators for Amalgamated Transit Union Local 107 are to discuss a revised contract offer from the city.

General Manager of Public Works Gerry Davis has said that he is optimistic the two sides will reach an agreement.

Members of the ATU -- bus drivers, mechanics and other transit workers -- voted 94 per cent in favour of a strike earlier this month.

The two parties will be in a legal strike-lockout position on Monday.
