TORONTO - A 27-year-old Toronto woman is facing prosecution in the United States following the seizure of 10 kilograms of marijuana at the Canada-U.S. border.

U.S. Customs officials say Amanda Copeland has been charged with possession with intent to distribute.

Officials say Copeland was trying to cross the Peace Bridge in Buffalo, N.Y., and told authorities she was en route to visiting family in upstate New York.

During questioning, she raised the suspicions of a customs officer.

Officials allegedly found 39 vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana in the spare tire during the inspection of Copeland's vehicle.

She has been turned over to Buffalo police for prosecution by the Erie County District Attorney's Office.
