Police have identified a man murdered in Toronto's east end early Saturday morning.

Ajiganth Mahalingam was found suffering from apparent stab wounds in an apartment building on Kingston Road just west of Morningside Avenue shortly before 6:30 a.m.

Police said they responded to calls and found the 27-year-old victim in a hallway on the 17th floor of the public housing development.

The victim was allegedly stabbed to death after a dispute erupted at a birthday party that began late Friday night in a nearby park, CTV learned.

He received emergency treatment at the scene, but had no vital signs. The Toronto man was then was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Toronto homicide detectives are investigating. No arrests have been made.

The victim's autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.
