A suspected grifter who has already been charged in connection with a massive snow clearing scam is facing new charges after police say he sold himself as a graphic designer.

Police announced new charges against Elman Iakhiiav, 31, on Tuesday, claiming the Toronto man attempted to defraud a North York restaurant in late January.

Police say the man entered into a contract to provide menus, signs and advertising materials under the guise of being a graphic designer. Police allege he received a deposit for his services but never delivered.

Iakhiiav was charged with fraud under $5,000 and failure to comply with recognizance.

He had previously been charged with 100 counts of fraud in an ongoing investigation into a pre-paid, snow-removal scheme targeting seniors.

Investigators allege the man offered to clear snow at homes for the rest of the winter. Investigators say payments of $60 to $180 were requested in advance, but the work was never done.

Police say the man targeted seniors and people suffering from medical conditions as well as others who were not as vulnerable.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
