INNISFIL, Ont - South Simcoe police are searching for an 18-year-old Barrie, Ont., man who sped off after failing a roadside breathalyzer test early today.

Police stopped the man for speeding around 1:30 a.m. in the village of Stroud and demanded he provide a breath sample.

Police say the driver complied, failed the test and subsequently resisted arrest.

It's alleged the driver put his vehicle in motion and struck the officer with his car door before speeding off, resulting in minor injuries.

A brief vehicle pursuit ensued, but officers called it off in the interest of public safety.

Officers say the man is known to them and they expect to make an arrest shortly.
