Peel police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a Toronto man in connection with a fatal shooting at a Mississauga hotel earlier last weekend.

The Nov. 7 shooting victim was Donald Grant, 27, an aspiring Toronto rapper. He had been in a room at the Holiday Inn Express hotel located near Dixie Road and Highway 401. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he died.

Grant recorded under the name Don Kartel. He was Peel region's sixth homicide victim of 2010.

Police have named Jerome Derby, 20, in a first-degree murder arrest warrant.

They describe Derby as being a black male, about 5'9" and 140 lbs. He has a thin build with brown eyes and brown hair.

"Mr. Derby is to be considered armed and dangerous and not to be approached by members of the public," police warned.

"It is suggested the suspect contact a lawyer and make arrangements to turn himself into the nearest police service."
