One suspect is in custody after a man was slashed in the neck inside a rooming house near York University, Toronto police say.

It happened at around 1:40 a.m. on Leitch Avenue, in the area of Keele Street and The Pond Road.

Police say the victim, who is believed to be a 22-year-old man, suffered a slash wound to the neck during the assault but his injuries are considered to be non-life-threatening.

A suspect was arrested following the incident and has been charged with aggravated assault.

Investigators say the victim knew his alleged attacker.

No other injuries were reported.
