Gunfire erupted at a Malton mall Monday morning, sending shoppers fleeing and leaving police on the hunt for a gunman.

Four men were seen arguing outside the Westwood Mall by the exit near the Scotiabank branch just before 1 p.m. Witnesses told police a suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it to another male in the group.

Yellow police tape now surrounds the exit. The glass on the mall door has been shattered and police say shell casings were found on the ground.

Investigators are currently looking at video from a surveillance camera perched on top of the roof above the Scotiabank. They confirmed that a 22-year-old man checked himself into a nearby hospital with a non life-threatening bullet wound to his arm.

No innocent bystanders were hurt in the shooting and the mall remains open for business.

It's the second shooting on the mall's property in less than a year.
