CHATHAM, Ont. - Ontario Provincial Police say a man fleeing from officers near Chatham, Ont., carjacked a woman on Highway 401.
Police say the man was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over for speeding Saturday night on Highway 401, near Kenesserie Road.
Investigators say the passenger fled on foot, stopped a vehicle, pulled the driver out on the highway and took off in the car, nearly hitting an officer.
The 51-year-old Leamington, Ont., woman driving the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the exchange.
Police later found a suspect and the vehicle at a property on Spence Line.
Charges against Richard Brewster, 29, of Pickering, Ont., include robbery, assault and resisting arrest.
