A 24-year-old suspect is in police custody, charged in connection with the random pushing of a man onto the subway tracks at Dundas West station last week.

Police arrested a man Saturday after several people called police to tip them off about the whereabouts of the suspect.

Investigators and the public were able to identify the suspect from surveillance images taken at the subway station where the incident occurred last Saturday.

On March 28th at about 6 a.m. a man fell onto the tracks after he was reportedly pushed from behind by a stranger. Police said the attack was random and unprovoked.

Luckily there were no trains at the station at the time of the alleged assault and the victim was not seriously injured.

A surveillance camera caught a suspect leaving the subway platform and stepping onto the 504 streetcar.

Police have charged Gary Donaldson with assault, mischief endangering a life and failure to comply with recognizance.

He is being held pending a bail hearing.
