TORONTO - Supporters of an Indian refugee claimant who was arrested by immigration officials while in hospital will rally in Toronto today to protest his deportation.

Laibar Singh came to Canada in 2003 and has been seeking refugee status since them.

The 48-year-old man has been claiming sanctuary at a Sikh temple in B.C. since July 7 of this year.

Singh says he's been persecuted by police in India and claims they have levied false terrorism charges against him.

Three years after he arrived in Canada, Singh suffered an aneurysm that left him paralyzed and he requires visits to an Abbotsford, B.C. hospital.

That's where he was Monday night when he was arrested Canadian Border Services agents.
