There is no subway service between Union and St. George stations on Sunday as the TTC continues to upgrade its signals along the University portion of the Yonge-University-Spadina line.
Because of the project, trains are not running between the stations from Saturday at midnight to the start of Monday’s service at 6 a.m.
Shuttle buses are operating during the closure.
The buses are scheduled to run every two to three minutes between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m., and every three to five minutes between 10 p.m. and 2 p.m.
During the subway closure, the shuttle buses are taking the following route:
Southbound from St George Station (south side platform, normally reserved for 26 Dupont buses): south on Bedford Road, east on Bloor Street, south on Queen’s Park, south on University Avenue, east on King Street, north on Church Street, west on Richmond Street, south on Victoria Street and east on Adelaide Street to northbound routing.
Northbound from Adelaide Street: south on Church Street, west on King Street, north on University Avenue, north on Queen’s Park, west on Bloor Street, north on St. George Street, offloading customers at the St George Station entrance, and then continuing north on St. George Street and east on Prince Arthur Avenue to enter St George Station.
Because the elevators at St. George Station are under construction, Wheel-Trans buses will be stationed at Bathurst, Eglinton West and Union stations to accommodate seniors and people with mobility issues.
According to the TTC, the re-signalling project will modernize TTC signals, relays, wiring and cable equipment, much of which was originally installed when the University line opened 50 years ago.
The project will result in closures between Union and St. George stations March 17 and the weekend of March 23 and 24.
