A downtown street reopened on Tuesday after two panes of glass fell from the RBC Centre highrise the previous evening.

The first pane fell from the building at 155 Wellington St. at about 7 p.m., while the second shattered on the ground shortly after police arrived at the building.

Police said the panes fell from the 31st and 11th floors.

No one was injured, but streets and sidewalks were closed through the night as a precaution while police investigated.

Crews worked through the night securing the highrise tower and clearing the broken panes of glass.

CTV Toronto's Natalie Johnson reported that crews discovered a crack in a third pane of glass and removed that section as well.

Simcoe Street remained closed between Wellington and Front streets until late Tuesday morning.

The building's manager Cadillac Fairview told CTV Toronto that they were unsure what had caused the broken glass but would continue to investigate.

This is not the first incident of falling glass in the downtown core.

On March 26, the area around an office tower on 180 Queen St. W. was closed after a piece of glass fell from the 16th floor.

Two days before that, strong winds blew glass from the Trump Tower at the intersection of Bay and Adelaide Streets.
