NEWMARKET, Ont. - York Regional Police say they have seized stolen vehicle keys they believe prevented about $4 million in potential thefts.

Police say they recovered three vehicles valued at $250,000 during an investigation of break-ins that resulted in high-end vehicle thefts across the Greater Toronto Area.

During an probe that started in July, police executed eight search warrants and seized 99 stolen vehicle keys, various disguises and a police scanner.

A suspect was arrested on Sept. 9 in Toronto.

Andrzej Zalewski, 33, of Toronto, is due in a Newmarket court Friday charged with offences that include break and enter and possession of property obtained by crime.

Police say the investigation is continuing.
