Toronto police say they arrested 131 people and seized drugs during a street-level sweep through the city's drug houses and grow ops.

The five-week operation, which used undercover officers in three different neighbourhoods, resulted in 131 arrests and the seizure of 15 kilograms of marijuana.

Officers also seized 539 grams of crack cocaine during the investigation.

"The focus was on the street-level drug trade," Staff-Supt. Tony Currie said on Friday. "The focus was on the drug dens, the crack houses and marijuana grow operations."

Dubbed "Operation Spring Clean," police say the busts dovetail with a larger campaign to get criminals off the streets.

Police will now launch "Operation Tavis," which is a similar, summer initiative to rid the city of drug dens.
