TORONTO - The leader of the official Opposition says he's a victim of "political correctness gone crazy.''

Conservative Bob Runciman says he didn't mean to offend anyone by calling the aboriginal affairs budget "smoke signals and mirrors.''

He says he was just trying to inject a little humour into his comments by making a play on words.

Aboriginal Affairs Minister Michael Bryant says Runciman should apologize for perpetuating an offensive and demeaning stereotype of aboriginal people.

But Runciman says it's Bryant who should apologize for allowing the Six Nation occupation in Caledonia to drag on for over two years.

Ontario Regional Chief Angus Toulouse says he's not offended by the signals comment and is quite adept at using modern communication devices like BlackBerrys.
