The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is probing an early-morning police chase and car accident that left a 19-year-old woman and 28-year-old man dead in Orillia.
The chase began at 4:17 a.m. after OPP officers from the Barrie detachment tried to stop a vehicle on Highway 11.
Police say the driver refused to stop the vehicle before exiting the highway at Memorial Avenue and then crashing near Dunn Avenue.
The two occupants were transported to Orillia Soldier's Memorial Hospital before succumbing to their injuries.
Police have not released their names.
The SIU has sent a mobile command unit to the scene.
