One person is being treated for undisclosed injuries after being ejected from a vehicle that went into a ravine in Richmond Hill.

According to York Regional Police Const. Blair McQuillan, an officer was doing radar when he observed the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed and attempted to pull it over.

The vehicle then veered off the road and went down an embankment on the east side of Bathurst Street, just south of Rutherford Road, at about 7:30 a.m.

The car came to a stop at a small stream.

Firefighters rescued the female driver, who was thrown from the vehicle.

It appears her injuries are not life-threatening, York Regional Police told CP24.

The Special Investigations Unit is investigating.

The SIU investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
