The sister-in-law of murdered Brampton woman Poonam Litt has been charged in connection with her death.

Mandeep Punia was charged Friday with second-degree murder.

She will make her first court appearance in Brampton tomorrow.

Police held a press conference Thursday to tell the public that Litt's remains had been found recently in Caledon, Ont.

Litt vanished in 2009 and her disappearance was previously classified as suspicious.

Litt's father-in-law, Kulwant Litt, has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder. He made his first court appearance Friday.

Poonam and her husband Majinder lived with their daughter and Majinder's parents and married sister, who also had two children.

Majinder was in India when his wife went missing and was told just days before her disappearance that she was pregnant with their second child.
