Shots were fired in an apparent armoured vehicle robbery on Friday, Toronto police said.

Police responded to a call around 1 p.m. at Dolomite and Magnetic Roads near Dufferin and Steeles Avenues in North York.

Shots were exchanged between a Brinks guard and a man at an industrial complex in the hold up.

Police say the guard wrestled with a man before shots were fired.

No individuals employed with the armoured-vehicle company were seriously injured in the exchange.

Police have yet to confirm how many suspects were involved in the attempted robbery, but it's believed the suspects fled the scene in a car.

It's unclear whether any money was stolen from the truck and there is no word on any arrests.

Friday's incident marks the third armoured vehicle hold up this year.
