Three people wounded in a shooting in the Jane-Wilson area are refusing to co-operate with police and explain what happened.

The gunfight erupted after suppertime near a pathway north of Sheridan Mall that leads to a public housing project at 180 Chalkfarm Drive.

Police suspect it was a running gunfight, possibly an effort to settle a dispute between local drug dealers or gang members. Shoppers and employees in the plaza scrambled for cover when they heard the gunfire.

All three victims were apparently trying run away afterwards but collapsed.

Paramedics took two of the three to Sunnybrook Hospital, one suffering from a shoulder wound and the other from a leg wound. The third victim had also suffered a leg wound.

Police cordoned off the crime scene, but witnesses at the scene also say they saw nothing.

Police say they are working to identify those involved and are trying to determine the origin of the firearms used by the gunmen.
