A man was rushed to hospital Friday evening with life-threatening injuries after being shot at a downtown Toronto subway station.

Toronto EMS said it responded to a report of a male shot on the TTC platform at Queen Station. The victim, believed to be in his 20s, has been taken to hospital.

EMS also said only one person was injured.

Toronto police said the situation was being dealt with, but offered few details.

The TTC stopped service between Union and Bloor Stations late Friday night as police carried out their investigation.
