A former senior aide to Liberal Senator Art Eggleton has been released on bail after being arrested on nine charges related to an alleged sexual assault.
Robert Meinzer, who lives and works in Ottawa, was arrested in Toronto on Monday following an investigation that began earlier this month.
The charges include: break and enter with intent, assault, forcible confinement, sexual assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, suffocation, anal intercourse and extortion.
Toronto Police said in a press release that they believe there may be other victims.
Robert Meinzer, 38, is expected to appear in court at Old City Hall on Sept. 10.
