Section of Highway 401 reopened after partial closure in Bowmanville
Highway 401 was shut down in Bowmanville due to downed wires on Wednesday, July 9, 2014.
All westbound lanes of Highway 401 in Bowmanville have reopened after downed wires closed the section between Liberty Street and Waverly Road on Wednesday evening.
Ontario Provincial Police said that a westbound maintenance vehicle was doing some street cleaning when it came in contact with power lines that stretched across the highway.
The maintenance vehicle partially pulled down the lines, then an eastbound transport truck became snagged in the wires. The truck pulled down the wires as well as a Ministry of Transportation sign that was hanging over the highway.
No injuries have been reported so far.
