Police have arrested and charged a second teenage girl after several sex trade workers were robbed in the Toronto area.
Investigators said that at least five robberies took place between Oct. 25 and Dec. 9.
In all five incidents, police said female sex trade workers were contacted by a suspect who posed as a potential client. An arrangement was made for the escorts and the suspect to meet at a Toronto-area hotel, but when the victims opened the hotel room door, they were attacked by a group of people.
The victims' rooms were also ransacked.
In December, police arrested four suspects including a 17-year-old girl.
Earlier this week, police arrested a 16-year-old girl in connection with the robberies. The girl, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with five counts of robbery, four counts of forcible confinement, two counts of assault, and one count each of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and failure to attend court.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are still looking for a man and two women in connection with the robberies.
