A second man accused of shooting at Loreen Small and her two daughters has been charged with attempted murder.

Small, the mother of slain high school student Jordan Manners and an outspoken voice against gun violence in her Jane-Finch community, was sitting outside her North York home with her kids on July 18 when the shots were fired.

Police said the incident happened outside the family's Shoreham Court townhouse after one of the daughters rejected the advances of one of the suspects. Nobody was hurt in the shooting.

Last month, officers charged 31-year-old Cameron Richards with two counts of threatening death.

On Wednesday, 23-year-old Jesse Callander surrendered to police. He has been charged with:

  • Attempted murder with a firearm
  • Discharging a firearm endangering life
  • Possession of an unregistered restricted weapon
  • Weapons dangerous

Callander was to appear at the Finch Avenue courts on Thursday.
