The bail hearing for a man accused of running down a mother and her three-year-old son while allegedly driving drunk has been adjourned for the second time.

Dragan Gorgijevski, 56, a Toronto-area painter, made a brief appearance at an Eglinton Avenue courthouse Monday.

Court officials were unable to locate a Macedonian translator for the second time and have postponed Gorgijevski's bail hearing until Friday.

Gorgijevski is charged with impaired driving causing death and impaired driving causing bodily harm.

Yan Zhang, 36, and her three-year-old son were walking home on the west sidewalk of McCowan Road, south of Eglinton Avenue East, at about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday night when they were struck by a southbound GMC van.

Police said they were on their way home from a local park where they spent the evening flying a kite.

Zhang was pronounced dead at the scene, while her child was taken to hospital with severe head injuries.

The toddler remains in critcal condition at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children.

The mother's death marks the city's 26th traffic fatality of the year.
