A Scarborough teacher faces sexual exploitation charges following an incident with a student last year.

Durham Regional Police said Monday the Pickering man was arrested last week following an investigation into inappropriate comments of a sexual nature directed at a student outside of school.

Durham police was alerted by Toronto authorities alleging that a sexual offence had occurred in Pickering during October 2011 involving a Toronto teacher and student.

Police claim the victim was befriended by a teacher at Winston Churchill Collegiate Institute in Scarborough and invited to the teacher's home in Pickering during Thanksgiving 2011.

The victim alleged the accused then made inappropriate comments of a sexual nature. The victim left the residence immediately and was not physically injured. The victim recently reported the incident to Toronto Police.
