An acupuncturist who practices out of his Scarborough home was arrested and charged Monday after a young woman told police she was sexually assaulted.

Police say the alleged assaults on the 26-year-old woman took place on four separate occasions over the past two months at the makeshift clinic, located at 3827 Finch Avenue East.

Investigators are looking into whether the suspect has the proper training and licensing to administer acupuncture.

Police are looking to speak with members of the public who have dealt with the suspect. They are also warning the public – especially women – to educate themselves to what the proper and common practices are when receiving any type of treatment.

"Only licensed practitioners who are held to a higher level of accountability should be utilized," police said in a news release.

Wen Xiang Qin, 52, has been charged with four counts of sexual assault.

He made a court appearance on Tuesday, but his case was postponed until Friday. He is being remanded in custody.
