A 73-year-old man has died after suffering a terrible head injury in a freak accident at a Tim Hortons drive-thru in far southwest Ontario.

George Weston was leaning out his open car door at the Wallaceburg restaurant as he backed up after dropping something in the lane Tuesday.

His head became trapped between the door and a yellow traffic control post, pinning his head and neck.

People immediately turned off his vehicle but weren't able to free him.

Paramedics got Weston to a Chatham-Kent hospital, where his vital signs were restored. Doctors there had Weston airlifted to London.

However, the Tupperville, Ont. man reportedly died of his injuries on Thursday afternoon.
