TORONTO -- Fewer than 10,000 people are still without power in southern and central Ontario and Quebec, days after a powerful windstorm swept through the region.

The storm brought gusts of up to 120 kilometres per hour on Friday, downing trees and power lines and knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of customers.

By Monday evening, that number was down to five figures, with the bulk of the outages in Ontario.

The province's largest power utility, Hydro One, reports there are some 7,726 customers without power.

Hydro Quebec reports just under 1,000 customers without power, while Toronto Hydro says the number in the city is 480.

The weather was also blamed for at least three deaths in Ontario.

Police said two workers were killed by a falling tree in Milton, Ont., and a man died after trying to move fallen power lines off a street in Hamilton.
