Thousands of GTA residents who were in the dark for several hours have power again.

Power Stream says electricity was restored by 12:30 a.m. for about 6,000 customers in Vaughan, near highways 7 and 27.

At one point, about 2,500 customers in Peel Region were also without electricity.

Power Stream said the outage was due to a “loss of supply” from the Woodbridge transformer station.

The transmission line provides electricity to customers in Vaughan, Malton and Brampton.
