An 18-year-old man was shot dead at a Scarborough birthday party early Sunday morning.

Emergency crews were called to home 336 Rouge Hills Dr., near Port Union Road and Highway 401, at around 2 a.m.

Police say they found a man collapsed on the driveway, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Tevon Mitchell was rushed to hospital but died soon after arrival.

Staff Sgt. Jim Mackrell told ctvtoronto.ca that investigators do not yet know what led to the shooting, but there are likely "a lot of witnesses" who can help them piece together what happened.

However, police say two vehicles were seen near the address fleeing after the shots were fired. One car is described as a white or light-coloured sedan. Witnesses told police the second vehicle was a darker colour.

There are no suspects in custody.

The death marks the city's 29th homicide of 2009.
