A 29-year-old man has died after being found lying on the ground unconscious in Etobicoke on the coldest day of the year.

Now police are looking to speak with a taxi driver who dropped him off, as well as anyone else who may have seen him overnight.

Police say Mark Stroz, 29, was found not far from his wheelchair, in a driveway on Allanhurst Drive near Royal York Road and Eglinton Avenue West.

He lived nearby with his mother, police say.

A person driving past shortly after 7 a.m. saw him and called 911.

Police do not know what time Stroz was dropped off by a cab.

He was found wrapped in a jacket, but the temperature was approximately -25 C and it likely felt like – 40 C with the windchill.

Paramedics transported him to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. They believe the extreme cold was responsible for his death.
