Police issued a warning after they found a man with video equipment in a car in a school parking lot Thursday.

Officers on patrol located Jonathan Acosta in a blue Honda at a school on St.Clair Avenue East at approximately 1 p.m.

Police allege the man had photographic equipment and a portable video camera capable of capturing footage secretly, and was posing as a photographer.

Investigators said they believe the accused may have repeated the alleged behavior prior to being apprehended.

Police described Acosta  as Filipino, 36, 5-5, 145 pounds, with a shaved head and a light-brown complexion. The vehicle used is a medium-blue Honda, four-door, with damage to the front fender and dark tinted windows.

Police said the 36-year-old faces several charges, including assault on a police officer, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of a controlled substance.

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Friday at 10 a.m.

Police also received a call Thursday for an alleged sex offender at Suydam Park, in the Spadina Avenue and St. Clair Avenue West area.

It's alleged that a grade five class from a local school was at the park for a picnic lunch on Wednesday when several children were approached by a man.

Police said the man allegedly offered to show them tricks on the monkey bars, lifted them up to the bars, and then touched them inappropriately.

The suspect was described as white, between the ages of 50 and 60, 5-8, with grey hair and grey moustache. The caller said he spoke with a thick Eastern European accent.

Police said he was wearing a white t-shirt with an orange heart on the front and an orange broken heart on the back, blue shorts with orange stripes and running shoes.

Anyone with information about either of these events is asked to contact police at 416-808-5400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
