Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a mother and daughter who went missing from Scarborough last month.

Ashley Johnson, 27, and her three-year-old daughter Nakita Johnson were last seen near their home in the area of Eglinton Avenue East and Birchmount Road.

Police have not provided the exact time of the disappearance, but say the two have not been seen in “approximately one month.”

Relatives were planning to celebrate Nakita’s third birthday this weekend. They notified authorities when they realized they hadn’t hear from the two in nearly a month.

Investigators released a photo of the two missing people on Saturday. Police say they are concerned for their safety.

“We’re not sure as to the reason or the nature of why they have not been seen,” said Toronto Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook, adding that police want them to know “that we are looking for them and their family is just worried.”

Ashley Johnson is described as a female standing five-feet-ten inches tall, weighing 190 lbs. She has long, curly dark hair.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-4100 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
