WINDSOR, Ont. - Police in Windsor, Ont., say it's "one down and two to go" for a man alleged to have swallowed a $20,000 diamond.

Sgt. Brett Corey says the 52-year-old man passed a stone on Friday morning -- a cubic zirconia, a low-cost fake diamond.

Police say the man underwent an ultrasound on Friday afternoon that confirms the presence of two more stones in his intestinal tract.

Corey says a judge has ordered Richard Mackenzie Matthews to remain in police custody until the two remaining stones are passed.

Matthews is alleged to have switched a diamond at Precision Jewellers and swallowed the real one.

Matthews is charged with theft and breach of court conditions, and is also wanted on warrants in Toronto.

"We are still waiting," Corey said Friday afternoon. "Hopefully, we will have more updates as the stones progress."
