Toronto police publicly released a security tape which shows two people fleeing a pizza joint after a man was shot to death while eating a slice.

The video was taken in the early morning hours of June 15, the day the homicide occurred.

Det. Sgt. Steve Ryan of the Toronto police homicide squad told reporters Tuesday afternoon that he believes one suspect tipped off the other about a man sitting outside the 241 Pizza on Jane Street near Bloor Street.

Shortly after, 19-year-old Claudio Andres Alamos was shot. He died later that night in hospital.

The grainy video shows a man walking along the street before entering the restaurant. A second man is seen rounding the corner of the plaza wearing a black top with the hood over his head and a gun in his hand.

The first man does not order food when he enters the pizza place but sits down for about five seconds. He then reaches into his sock and puts something, possibly a cellphone, near his mouth, Ryan said.

The man then walks out of the restaurant at the same time the shot was fired.

Ryan said that based on the video and witness testimony, detectives believe the man inside the pizza joint tipped off the man rounding the corner that the victim was sitting outside.

Both suspects are seen leaving the scene heading south.

Ryan said police have another surveillance tape from 200 Woolner Avenue which shows one of the suspects leaving the building at about 1:25 a.m. and returning just five minutes later.

The building is located near the spot where the shooting occurred at 761 Jane Street.

Police have a good idea about who the suspect inside the pizza shop is. Witnesses told them he lives in the area and has been around the community for 10 years though he moved out briefly last year.

Ryan said the suspect is in an interracial relationship.

"He's got a white girlfriend with two children. This is what we know about suspect two," he said. "We just haven't found him yet. We don't have a name for him as of yet."

Ryan said police have received a tip that the victim was linked to the Latin Kings gang but that investigators have yet to prove that.

"He was no choir boy for sure but having said that he deserved more than that," Ryan said. "He didn't deserve being gunned down on the street."
