Peel Regional police are investigating the death of a 10-year-old boy at a home in Brampton on Friday.

Police were called to the home at 15 Homeland Crt. in the Dixie Road and Queen Street East area at about 5 p.m. Authorities said the boy wasn't breathing when he was rushed out of the house.

Neighbours told CTV Toronto that loud arguing was heard and that a moving truck was seen outside the home. They say as many as nine police cars and a fire truck were outside the building.

Officials say they have interviewed the boy's father and have set up a command post on the street to ask neighbours for further details.

The man left the scene with police, according to area residents.

Police say there wasn't anything at the home to indicate that a criminal incident had occurred, and no arrests have been made.

Tawnya King, a neighbour, described the boy as a "good, polite kid."

The boy's father moved to the home with his son about a year and a half ago, according to Rilla Armitage, who has lived on the street for nearly 20 years.

Residents describe the neighbourhood as a quiet one where they know each other by name.

Investigators are currently waiting for the results of an autopsy to determine the child's cause of death.

Anyone with more information is asked to call Peel Regional Police at (905)453-3311 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
