Police are looking for up to four suspects after a shooting on Toronto's Harbourfront.

The shooting took place at around 12:15 a.m. as a large crowd was coming off the Northern Spirit cruise ship that had just finished sailing around the harbour.

A fight broke out in the crowd and several shots were fired in the parking lot at 85 Harbour Street.

A 28-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He is expected to survive recover.

The suspects fled the scene but police believe witnesses may be able to help them identify the culprits.

About 500 people were on board the ship during the four and a half hour cruise, including NBA player Jamaal Magloire.

He was attending an event on the boat, called the 2nd annual White Attire cruise. Magloire, who plays with the Dallas Mavericks but is also known for his charity work in the community, is no stranger to gun violence. His half-brother Justin Sheppard was murdered in Toronto during the summer of 2001.

A spokesperson for the Magloire family told CTV Toronto there was no trouble on board the cruise ship. Magloire, his mother and his brother were still on the board when the shooting occurred.

Anyone with information is being asked to call police at 52 Division at 416-808-5204. Anonymous tips can be left with Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
