Toronto police are investigating a homicide which occurred inside the city's Don Jail.

Officers responded to a call from the jail at about 7:50 p.m. on Saturday and arrived to find an unconscious man inside the facility.

The man had suffered "obvious signs of trauma" and was pronounced dead at the jail, which is located at 550 Gerrard Street East, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Jeff Munro, a 32-year-old from Toronto.

An autopsy was completed on Sunday and the cause of death was ruled as "blunt impact trauma" to the face, a police news release said.

Police haven't said if there are any suspects in the death, which is the city's 49th homicide of the year.
