Toronto homicide detectives are investigating after the body of a man was found next to GO Station train tracks in the city's north end early Tuesday morning.

Police said the victim, in his late 30s or early 40s, suffered slash wounds to the chest. A cause of death has not been released.

The body was found several blocks away from the Old Cummer station, near Leslie and Finch, at about 2 a.m. by a man walking his dog.

"It does look like (the attack) may have originated in the platform of the GO Transit station," said Det. Bill Vieria.

Investigators believe the body may have been at the spot for more than two hours.

Detectives believe surveillance camera footage will help them in their investigation.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.

The police investigation disrupted trains service in the area as Old Cummer station was shut down. Passengers boarded shuttle buses to the next stop.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the homicide squad at 416-808-7400, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or go online at www.222tips.com.
