Police have named Darnell Grant, 31, shot down Monday night in the Driftwood area near Jane and Finch, as the city's latest shooting victim.

The post-mortem examination of Grant showed he died of a gunshot wound to the torso, the Toronto Police Service said Wednesday in a news release.

Smith, Toronto's 52nd homicide victim, fell in an area close to the scene of a Friday night shooting.

Two arrests have been made so far in Smith's case.

Jermaine Gager, 18, and Corey Smelie, 20, both of Toronto, are each charged with second-degree murder and numerous firearm-related offences.

Acting Det.-Sgt. Terry Browne told ctvtoronto.ca that the two men's cases will be back in court on Thursday.

Browne said the hunt continues for a third suspect and possibly more, although he doesn't yet have a description of that individual.

"But we believe one more person is outstanding, possibly more," he said.

One lead they are exploring is that the van believed to be used in the shooting was found abandoned heading southbound on the 400 Highway, Browne said.

"Obviously I'd be interested if anyone was travelling south on the 400 around 9:30-ish on the 22nd of September if they have any recollection of anyone running along the roadway that ought not be there," he said. "That would be very helpful."
