Toronto police say Randy Anthony Malcolm is the city's 37th homicide victim of the year.

In a news release issued Thursday, they said an autopsy will be performed on the 24-year-old victim.

Police say they received a gunshot call in the Cather Crescent and Trafford Lane area on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

They found Malcolm at the rear of 41 Cather Cres.

He had reportedly been shot several times in the head. Paramedics rushed him to Sunnybrook hospital, but Malcolm died there of his injuries on Wednesday afternoon.

In the same incident, a 36-year-old man received a gunshot wound to the shoulder. He was treated and released from hospital on Tuesday night. Police say he is co-operating with their investigation.

People in the community housing area did not wish to speak about the shootings on camera with CTV Toronto on Wednesday.

Police say they are searching for a male suspect. He is black, has short hair, is 6' to 6'2", weighs about 240 lbs. and has a large, muscular build. The suspect is believed to be in his early 20s.
