Toronto Police have released security video of two men in the hopes of identifying a second ‘person of interest’ in connection with the shooting death of 15-year-old Tyson Bailey.

Bailey, a student and football player at Central Technical School, died Jan. 18 after he was shot inside a stairwell at an apartment building, near Dundas and River Streets.

The videos, released to the public Thursday, show Bailey walking into the front doors of the building at 605 Whiteside Place. Two men follow behind him, police say.

Police have spoken with the man who enters behind Bailey, and have identified him as a building resident and friend of Bailey’s.

Police are appealing for help identifying the third male seen on the video, “who appears to be with this person that’s friends with Tyson,” Toronto Homicide Det.-Sgt. Justin Vander Hayden told reporters Thursday.

Police have previously said they believe Bailey may have been the target of someone "lying in wait" for him when he visited a 13th-floor suite in the Regent Park highrise.

Vander Hayden said it appears Bailey was shot from a landing half a flight down from where he was standing.

Police believe there are people in the building who possess information on the identity of the shooter or his immediate whereabouts following the shooting.

“(Police) responded so quickly to this 911 call, that I’m confident that the shooter did not make it out of this building before the police arrived,” he said.

Police canvassed the building on Thursday, hoping residents saw or heard anything that might indicate where the shooter went after Bailey was gunned down.

“What I need to know is the connection between the shooter and this building and I’m confident there is a connection and the answer lies in the building,” Vander Hayden said.

So far, no one has been charged in connection with Bailey’s death.
