Police are investigating after three armed home invasions occurred in the city’s northwest end Friday.
Police said the home invasions took place in the area near Jane Street and Wilson Avenue. Men forced their way into homes and robbed the residents of cash and cellphones, police said.
The homes were located within a 10-minute drive of each other. In all three cases, at least one of the suspects was armed with a gun. No one was injured in any of the invasions.
“At this time we’re still investigating whether any of these incidents are in fact related or not,” said Staff Sgt. Ken Boyle.
In the first two incidents, which occurred at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. respectively, two suspects forced their way into two different homes.
A vehicle that may be involved in the second incident is described as a dark coloured, newer model vehicle with a loud exhaust.
In the third incident, which occurred around 7:40 p.m., three suspects entered a house on Bowsfield Road, near York University.
Residents who live in the area told CTV Toronto that the incidents have left them feeling unsafe.
“Obviously it’s shocking. It’s disappointing,” said one resident. “I know the holiday season is right around the corner, so for a family to go through this at this period is difficult, certainly for them.”
“I’m actually moving in April because it’s just not that safe an area,” said one student.
In one of the invasions property was stolen, but in two of the robberies the suspects fled the scene without taking anything from the homes.
