Police are investigating the death of a man inside a Richmond Hill basement apartment.
York Regional Police responded to a disturbance call in an apartment in the rear of a shopping plaza on Levendale Road, near Yonge Street and Elgin Mills Road, at about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
A 47-year-old man was found suffering injuries outside the apartment. According to police the victim died at the scene. The Canadian Press reported on Wednesday that the man had been stabbed inside the apartment.
One man was taken into custody in a nearby bar and several other people were taken to police headquarters for questioning.
Investigators have established a mobile command centre outside the strip mall as they continue to investigate the incident Wednesday morning.
