Toronto police are investigating a collision at Eglinton Avenue E. and Kingston Road after one person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was sent to hospital without vital signs.

The crash happened mid-morning Tuesday when two vehicles crashed into each other at the intersection located in the Scarborough Village neighbourhood. Police said one car veered off and hit a utility pole. That driver was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering from cardiac arrest.

Police are not sure if the cardiac arrest was the result of the crash or if the crash caused it.

Traffic reconstruction officers and police remain on the scene. Both roads were closed for several hours while officers investigated but have since reopened.
