BOBCAYGEON, Ont. - Three Toronto-area men have been charged with drug-related offences after provincial police found an alleged marijuana grow-op at a home northwest of Peterborough, Ont.

Provincial police say officers who responded to a report of a break-in in Bobcaygeon on Friday afternoon found the home was secure, but noticed the garage was open.

Const. Iain McEwan says police discovered a grow-op containing 696 pot plants inside the garage.

One suspect was taken into custody after police went to investigate a van parked down the street from the home.

Two other accused were detained after they fled into the woods, police say.

Police have seized the plants, along with the van and $1,000 worth of other property allegedly linked to the grow-op.

Police say Derek Williams, 38, of Mississauga, Van Ngyuen, 42, of Maple, and Huy Ngyuen, 48, of Toronto have been charged with production of marijuana and possession of marijuana for the purposes of trafficking.
