Toronto police found drugs, guns and a metre-long alligator during an early morning raid Sunday.

Police made the strange discovery at around 2:30 a.m. after they executed a search warrant inside a store-top apartment at Don Mills and Eglinton Avenue.

Three people -- two men and a woman -- who were inside the apartment at the time were taken into custody.

Police say they seized a number of guns, ammunition and a small stash of crack cocaine as well as about $10,000 in cash.

Two pitbulls were inside the apartment at the time. The alligator, which was also being kept as a pet, was found inside a large aquarium.

The alligator and the dogs were taken by animal welfare officials.
